World Wildlife Day!

Every year on the 3rd of March. The world celebrates animals. This day was created by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) established World Wildlife Day on December 20, 2013.

Annually there is also a theme to celebrate this event, With significant evens around the world to celebrate and memorialize the day. This years theme is “Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet”. What does that mean? it means we are taking an approach to invest more time and money into the biodiversity of the Wildlife, Flora & Fauna in our world. With everything being such a constant need, Thousands of species on the borderline of extinction and our world slowly falling apart, and failing the environments around us. We need to step up and do more. In Australia alone we have a very Large number of threatened species, with Over 2,000 animals and plants are listed as threatened in Australia

Examples of endangered animals: Koala, Mountain Pygmy-possum, Long-footed Potoroo, Greater Glider, Numbat, Regent Honeyeater, Orange-bellied Parrot, Eastern Quoll.

All of the ecosystems around the world have different threats. With some countries unable to fund extra resources, Leaving the native animals and plants without a savior. The US alone is significantly under funded for the conservation and efforts to make a difference. Current financial flows are insufficient for governments to meet national biodiversity targets, particularly in biodiversity hotspots located in low-to-middle-income countries. Although in the US $143B is invested annually in biodiversity conservation, this falls short of the estimated $824B needed each year. The UN Secretary-General is calling for an additional $500B to help conservation efforts for the protection and salvation of our ecosystems.

Azbilu Children’s Boutique & Native Rescue Initiative Would love your say. How can we help? Currently there is no local events registered to support world wildlife day, or even statewide. We would love to Celebrate and raise awareness for this very important day.

We are considering our options & would truly value opinions. We are considering a Coloring Competition for Our Local community (with availability to download and print directly via our website) or Maybe a Children’s Crafting competition.
